You might remember that the very kind and lovely people at GE cameras UK helped me out at Graduate Fashion Week last week with a spare SD card when I forgot mine? Those lovely people do indeed have names – Carole, Martina and Gary! Another huge thank you!
Why am I mentioning all of this again? You might well ask! Not only did Martina provide me with an SD card she also showed me their beautiful new camera which was launched at Graduate Fashion Week.
The “Create by Jason Wu” is being dubbed as the UK’s first fashion camera.
The camera – as the name suggests – has been designed by Jason Wu. That’s right – the very same designer whose creations are so popular with US First Lady, Michelle Obama. Can’t be bad, eh?!
The minute I saw the camera I knew I had to have one. It is beautiful. Sleek. Sophisticated. Everything that a woman could want from a compact camera. That’s the point – this is most definitely a woman’s camera.
It is a encased in a gorgeous and sumptuous cream coloured leather body with a similar carry case too. It would just look the part in my hand!!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my DSLR so much and nothing is going to make me move away from it. Completely. But sometimes a point and shoot is what is required. A night out with girl friends. A weekend away with only hand luggage. A bike ride. The “Create” is such a lovely portable size. I can imagine just chucking it in my bag everywhere I go simply because of its size and weight, I’ll barely notice it’s there until I need it!
Simplicity is at the heart of the design of this camera. There is no need for a memory card – so good for me! The internal memory will hold over 1,000 images. There is no fiddly cable to lose – instead it has a built in USB connector which simply retracts when not in use. And it charges from your computer too – just like an iPod. There is an additional mains plug – just in case!
But the packaging is what sells it as a real treat for any woman out there:
For any man out there looking for a present for their girlfriend/wife, this is it! It is even packaged like it could be a jewellery box!
According to my sources the camera will be available later this month from all good digital camera retailers (and Argos!) for about £160.
As for how it is to use? I don’t know. Yet. But as soon as I get one (!!) I will be sure to let you know.
