Style Icon: Edie Sedgwick

Edie Sedgwick was an American actress, socialite, model, and heiress. She is best known for being one of Andy Warhol’s muses.

“Like one of Warhol’s prints, Edie the fashion icon is endlessly repeated. Her black tights, tiny dresses and striped tops are regularly revived.” Source: The Times Online.

Edie Sedgwick’s style is very much that of the era in which she lived, namely the 1960s. The black kohled eyes, the peroxide blonde crop and the fur are all synonymous with this striking 60s icon.

Next week’s Style Icon is Sienna Miller who played Edie Sedgwick in the 2006 film, Factory Girl.

Ah, she's good – did you see Ciao Manhattan? If the answer is not 'yes' then hunt it down… Edie at her best/worst… I modelled my entire wardrobe in my late teens and 20s after pictures of her as 'Youthquaker'… the classic one of her arabesquing in front of her sketch on her bed (which I think she later set fire to in her sleep)…

Actually – you've posted one of the pictures that I directly emulated – the blond crop, the sleeveless turtleneck, the black tights and heels… ah, those were the days.
